Cogeneration: 13.2 kV switchgear and synchronisation control

Medium-voltage protection cubicles and a 2.5 MVA main distribution board for the plant’s cogeneration, together with the synchronisation and transfer control panel for its 320 kW generator.

Substation room with the 440 V transfer panels on one side and, on the other, two wall-mounted synchronisation control panels.

The challenge

The plant cogenerates with a natural gas generator set and needed two things at once: medium-voltage protection for the main feeder and its three substations, and the ability to couple and transfer load between the grid and the generator.

The response

A protection cubicle with a vacuum circuit breaker for the 13.2 kV main feeder and an identical cubicle for each substation — two 2 MVA transformers and one of 2.5 MVA; the main distribution board for the 2.5 MVA transformer at 13.2/0.460 kV; and the synchronisation control panel for generator 01, with transfer, natural gas consumption selector and generator test.

ITYP’s scope

Summary

Medium-voltage protection cubicles and a 2.5 MVA main distribution board for the plant’s cogeneration, together with the synchronisation and transfer control panel for its 320 kW generator.

Process

Supply, assembly and installation of the medium-voltage cubicles and the main distribution board, and manufacture and commissioning of the generator’s synchronisation control panel.

Technology and testing

13.2 kV / 0.460 kV · 2 MVA, 2 MVA and 2.5 MVA transformers · Protection cubicles with vacuum circuit breaker · 320 kW diesel or natural gas generator · 120 V AC control panel, IP54

Resultado

The main feeder and the three substations were left protected by a vacuum circuit breaker at 13.2 kV, the main distribution board of the 2.5 MVA transformer entered service, and the 320 kW generator runs in transfer and synchronisation from its own control panel.
